Caroline Fraser

Vice President

Caroline Fraser was born and raised in Halifax , Nova Scotia. While being surrounded boats her whole life,  she became an active member of the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron in middle school. Starting out late in the game , or missing the Opti portion of her sailing career, Caroline learned the ropes of the 420 as a crew with skipper Hilary Grantmyre on the rnsys race team. The girls took a spot on the Nova Scotia Provincial Sailing team for the following three consecutive years. Together Hilary and Caroline held title of 'Top Female 420 Team in Eastern Canada' for the latter two years. Eager to expand the title, the team began competing at a national and international level.  After guest coaching many times for younger sailors in the province, In 2010 she decided to put coaching ahead of her training. After working as both an Opti and 420 race coach for two years at the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron , Caroline came to the University of Toronto, where she has taken an active role on the sailing team for the past two years. Competing at events all through the US and various keel boat regattas, Caroline's passion for sailing and the water remains to be a central focus in her life.

Rachel Kozicz

Rachel Kozicz

Vice President

Rachel Kozicz has been involved in the sport of sailing for eleven years. What started as two weeks of sailing lessons each summer evolved into rigorous race team sailing. Throughout sailing school, Rachel learned to sail on Optis and 420s. After completing Bronze Sail V, she joined the Oakville Yacht Squadron's single-handed race team. She continued racing in the Laser Radial fleet for four years on both the OYS race team and the Bronte Harbour Yacht Club race team. Rachel also went on to complete her Silver Sail VI. For the past three years, Rachel has travelled to Miami in the winter to race in the Orange Bowl International Youth Regatta. Another regatta favorite of hers is CORK, which she has sailed in six times. Along with Radial racing, Rachel has sailed regattas in the Melges 20 and 29er and has match raced. Although she loves her Radial, she has enjoyed the challenge of racing new boats. Last year, Rachel began collegiate sailing and attended three of the regattas. As a first year student, she was excited to be given the opportunity to be so involved in the team's activities. This summer, Rachel began her job as the Head Sailing Instructor at Queen's Quay Disabled Sailing Program. Her duties included instructing private and semi-private CANSail 1&2 lessons, organizing and coaching race nights, and planning events such as regattas. Rachel is looking forward to another great collegiate sailing season with the University of Toronto Sailing Club!
